Gadsden County’s tourism industry is expanding, and the Tourist Development Council Grant might support more small businesses in the future. Sumner Farms and other local small businesses might gain if the county increases local tourism.

“This would be a good opportunity for small businesses” Nathan Sumner who owns Sumner Farmssaid.

Sumner claims that the grant will increase local tourism. The farm has been in his possession for five years. He claims that companies like his are facing the effects of inflation.

“Feed prices have gone up, the general care for animals and stuff like that has gone up,” Sumner said.
The Tourist Development Council Grant will encourage customers to make purchases at neighborhood stores. The objective of this award, according to Gadsden County, is to provide more enjoyable activities for local families and visitors from nearby counties while also bringing in more commerce.

“If they come in and market and tell people to come visit Gadsden, those grants are available to those organizations,” Leslie Steele of Gadsden County said.

According to Steele, residents are traveling from nearby counties and states. She thinks that more visitors will visit Gadsden County as a result of the Grant.

“We are strongly encouraging people to have an event so we can promote our county” Steele said.
Gadsden County has seen a rise in tourism revenue since February of this year.

Sumner is thinking of submitting a grant application in order to support his company and keep having a positive financial impact on the neighborhood.

“We can have more money to add to the animal enclosures and do more advertising,” Sumner said.

Applications for 2023 close on September 30 and will re-open on October 1 for 2024.
