Tourism is hoping to witness a robust summer season as pandemic becomes a passé

With the arrival of the Memorial Day holiday weekend, the officials of Northern Michigan tourism are expecting that the return of high profile events will go favorable for the crucial summer season.

The summer tourism season in September runs from Memorial Day through Labor Day weekend. It’s considered important for several businesses that are dependent on those profits to maintain the winter operations.

Many are feeling much safer and confident as the summers are nearing, in terms of travel. As per Destination Analysts, around 73.4% of travelers from America have or will get vaccinated. Of those who have been inoculated, 87.3% are fine with the idea of traveling. Almost two-thirds of American travelers think that the pandemic will improve in the U.S. in the next month; a mere 8.6% think it will worsen.

To quote Linda Hoath, executive director of the Sault Ste. Marie Convention and Visitors Bureau, “We feel confident that travelers are hungry to travel, especially in Northern Michigan. We have a great region that’s a little less dense than other areas, and an area that’s easily drivable for travelers from throughout the Midwest.”

“People are anxious to get out of their houses and start exploring. Travel data suggests that people will be looking for drive vacations in small rural communities with multiple opportunities for outdoor recreation,” noted Paul Beachnau, executive director of the Gaylord Area Convention and Tourism Bureau.
